I hate Christmas, Still...

It's hard to believe that another Black Friday is in the books and that the holiday shopping orgy is once again in full swing. I am having more fun this year because I have finally been able to see this shopping frenzy for what it is. A publicly sanctioned annual spending festival to boast the economy. It has nothing to do with Jesus, Christmas, God, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Ramadan, or any other religious holiday. No matter how much we pretend it is. I mean, it can't be because if it was, we would be allowed to wish people a Merry Christmas or our own specific desired holiday. Oh, well NOT wishing people Merry Christmas during the holiday is keeping the advertising people in business isn't it? Lowe's has "family trees" this year and Home Depot has "miracle trees" this years. Somebody got paid BIG bucks for those ideas.

BUT IF CHRISTIANS CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS ARE THE ONES BUYING CHRISTMAS TREES TO PUT THEIR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS UNDER, WHY CAN'T WE CALL THEM CHRISTMAS TREES? Is there another religion putting up evergreen trees each year that would be offended? Shouldn't we start calling menorahs, "Family candle holders" to not offend anyone? See how quickly things get out of hand?

If it's not about Christmas than why do the Malls still decorate with red and green? Because shoppers are hemorrhaging money this time a year is material pursuits. Get it? They are bleeding green!!!

AND for heavens sakes, wish me a "Merry Christmas"! Heck, for that matter, wish me anything you want. Why should I be banned from giving people my good and sincere wishes for the season because I might offend them? It's their fault if they are offended and it's not up to me to protect the "wittle feelings" of all the people I meet. Unless we start wearing tee shirts announcing our religion, chances are I won't guess their religion and give them the appropriate wish that live up to their expectations. Hell, people with me Happy Mother's Day every year and I don't get offended. I don't have kids, want, kids or really even like kids, but if they want to share their joy with me, I will take it!

Well, Happy Shopmas to all!
